Principal's Message

Dear Parent/ Carer

I am delighted you are interested in sending your child to our school.  I hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

We are proud to be an integrated college educating 11-18 year old boys and girls from all communities and of all abilities.  Pupils are at the centre of our school community.  Our aim is to develop and promote the full potential of each child, academically, socially and morally in a challenging but supportive environment, in full partnership with home and the wider community.

We are extremely proud of our pupils’ examination successes at GCSE, AS and GCE A Level.  Please take time to look at our examination results page.

However, pride in our pupils is not centred only on those who attain academic success.  We celebrate achievement by all pupils in all areas of school life.  Prizes for progress as well as achievement are awarded to pupils in every class in the school at our annual Celebration of Achievement ceremony.  Trophies are also awarded to pupils for sporting success, community involvement and personal development.  A Merit System runs on a daily basis throughout Years 8-12 rewarding pupils for their positive contribution to school life on a daily basis.

We educate children together from all traditions, religions and races, believing that working together will improve pupils’ understanding of one and other and of each others’ cultures, religions and values.  Curricular and extra curricular experiences give pupils opportunities to share opinions, to agree and disagree and to have a voice in the development of the school.  The School’s Council and Pacesetter pupils and teachers meet regularly with members of the Senior Leadership Team and school governors.

Pupils are extensively supported throughout their time at Priory Integrated College.  Form Tutors, Year Heads and Head of Junior and Senior School look after pupils’ pastoral welfare on a daily basis, supported by trained counsellors.  Senior pupils are trained in the skills of peer mentoring and many volunteer to support Year 8 pupils as they make the transition from primary to post primary school. Sixth Form pupils buddy pupils in the Junior School and assist with top up reading and numeracy programmes.

Our close curricular and extra curricular links with a range of local schools give pupils opportunities to mix, meet and share ideas and experiences with young people from a variety of backgrounds.  Please take time to explore these links.

We are particularly proud that one of our Assistant Vice Principals, Miss Deirdre Scarlett, won the post primary Northern Ireland Teacher of the Year Award in 2009.  This award confirms our belief that staff at Priory Integrated College strive to create a very positive learning environment for their pupils.

If you would like more information contact the school office to arrange a visit.  I will be more than pleased to meet you.

Best wishes.
